Happy Fourth of July!
We hope American is having as great an Independence Day as we're having here at Shades of Gray! There might not be as many photos in this post as there have been in some previous years, but there's more to see in each one!
Here's Susan Hayward and Virginia Lee, making sure everyone knows what day it is!
And we have Marceline Day, Anita Page, and Gwen Lee re-creating a famous painting celebrating the War for Independence in their own unique way!

A Page Serenade on Cinco de Mayo!
Anita Page is celebrating Cinco de Mayo by singing to the Moon Girls and Elmo Aardvark! (This is happens quite often when she's been chugging Coronas.)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Lucille Ball is here to show you how a proper lady celebrates this glorious day!
Not everyone necessarily thinks this holiday should be celebrated, nor that St. Patrick should be honored. In the interest of fairness, we're giving those people equal time and space this year.

The Easter Bunny Back-ups
Once again this year Shades of Gray is ready to spring into action if the Easter Bunny needs help. This year's Captain of the Bunny Bunch is Tallulah Willis, promoted from main back-up Back-up Bunny after her strong showing last year! (She looks a little haggard. We hope she's up for the task...)
Joining Ms. Willis and eager for some egg-distributing action is her fellow veteran Bunny Debbie Harry...

... as well as Dorothy Sebastian. She's going to handle all logistical matters, so she's trying to think through any potential problems before they occur.
Meanwhile, if anything proves too tough for these three ladies to handle, John Wayne's on hand! (Goldie Hawn was going to be the fourth bunny, but we got the costume size wrong....)

We're making sure Santa stays on schedule!
All of us here at Shades of Gray have taken part-time jobs at Santa's Workshop to ensure that all the toys for the good girls and boys are ready for the Big Guy's Christmas Run.
Clara Bow has been given what is perhaps the most important task of all of us: She's the Lead Quality Control Inspector, making sure that none of the rest of us are accidentially making dangerous toys!

Happy Thanksgiving!
We here at Shades of Gray hope everyone who is celebrating Thanksgiving--whether they are at home in the U.S. or away in another country--are together with family or friends and enjoying some good food!
The festivities here have derailed a bit. First, Joan Blondell crashed the plane carrying the after-dinner treats, then Leila Hyams decided to adopt the turkey we were going to butcher and cook. While we'll have lots of side dishes brought by guests, the main course will be a couple frozen lasagnas, fresh from the microwave.
(Actually, in all seriousness... we're going to have a nice Thanksgiving with plenty of good food. We may have to work, but we are thankful for our friends, our jobs, and all of you who visit this blog to check out the reviews and silliness!)

It's St. Patty's Day!
Since gender-flipping is all the rage these days, we here at Shades of Gray have turned St. Patrick into St. Patty. This majestic figure of revised legend stands ready to hook snakes, drop them in cages, and humanely relocate them to somewhere far away.

Happy National Watermelon Day!
I made a joke about Taco Tuesday to someone I know from Australia. Her response was, "Americans and their weird holidays..."
The fact there is such a thing as National Watermelon Day, and no one seems to know who first declared August 3rd to be that day, nor when it was first named so--the earliest reference I could find to it was in 2015, but my Google-Fu is weak--seems to prove her point.
National Watermelon Day is celebrated every year on August 3rd by... well, eating watermelon. That's it.
Weird holiday or not, we here at Shades of Gray encourage everyone to enjoy some tasty watermelon to mark this very special day. We will be--whille Bebe Daniels will be performing the traditional Watermelon song. (And we all hope you will have more fun than Harold Lloyd... he doesn't like watermelon, the freak!)

Happy Thanksgiving to my American visitors!
I wish all my American visitors and readers have a happy Thanksgiving with friends and family. And I want to say that I am thankful for the few dozen of you out there who visit regularly, whether you're American or not!

Halloween is coming...
... and Dorothy Sebastian is getting the decorations ready and trying out costume ideas. How about you?
(And don't miss the 31 Nights of Halloween film and music festival, currently unfolding at our sister blog, Terror Titans!)

Happy Labor Day!
Cathy O'Donnell had to work on this Labor Day, but I hope most of you out there had a chance to enjoy some rest and time with friends.
