BEACHED - by Peter van Straaten & Steve Miller

By Peter van Straaten

Dutch cartoonist Peter van Straaten retired in 2016, after a career that ran for 50 years. During those decades, he created thousands of cartoons and illustrations that had fun with or made wry observations regarding everyday life, human relations, and human sexuality. He passed away on December 8 of that year.

Today's Beached cartoon was the final published drawing from Van Straaten's pen. It seemed like a fitting way to close out this year's summer series.

We hope to continue to bring you weekly Van Straaten cartoons going forward, either with original jokes translated into English, or all-new ones, by Steve Miller. Likewise, we hope you are enjoying them as much as we are.

We hope all our visitors had a great Summer... and we wish you an even better Fall!

Picture Perfect Wednesday with Sydney Sweeney

Actress Sydney Sweeney was the central figure in the dumbest "controversy" of 2025. It involved her appearance in an ad for jeans and whole bunch of truly stupid and demented people deciding it was Nazi propaganda and a pro-eugenics dog whistle.

Today, you can enjoy pictures of Sydney Sweeney and her good genes without any jeans.

If you're in the crowd who thinks Sweeney's ad for jeans is actually some sort of propaganda piece promoting eugenics and Nazism... well, then you need to consider the benefits of eugenics, because you have bad genes. Or, at least, the Stupid Gene.
