Some art by June in June!

June Brigman is perhaps best known for being to co-creator of the excellent 1980s/1990s series from Marvel Comics, Power Pack. She has been gracing covers and interior pages of American comic books of pretty much all genres since her first foray into comics as a penciler during the early 1980s.

Here's a small sampling of artwork from Brigman's pencil over the past three decades, starting with a very nice illustration of the original Black Cat.

In memory of George Perez

After a lengthy illness, legendary comic book artist and writer George Perez passed away on May 6, 2022. He is best remembered for helping to reshape the DC Universe in the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" mini-series in the mid-1980s--a work so full of impactful imagery that it resonates across the comic book genre to this very day; for reinventing Wonder Woman during the late 1980s and into the 1990s; and for his ability to cram dozens and dozens of heroes and fierce action to pages... and yet it was always crystal clear what was going on.

Perez's career spanned four decades, and, although his style matured and changed over the years, his art remained consistently beautiful and the figures in it always epic in appearance and stature. Today, we present a gallery of his work, in his honor and memory.

Pre-Thanksgiving Wonder Woman Wednesday

Wonder Woman portrait by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez
We here at Shades of Gray are thankful for Wonder Woman.

Meanwhile, Wonder Woman is grateful that comic book characters can't catch Covid-19, so she, her friends, and her comic-book universe fans can keep hanging out--and even have Thanksgiving Dinner together! We wish WE were comic book characters, too!

'Wonder Woman 1984' Delayed... but There's Also Good News!

We just learned that the new Wonder Woman movie has been pushed back from its June 4th, 2020, release to August 14th. While, on the one hand, this is disappointing to us, on the other hand, it means that there will be many more Wonder Woman Wednesdays, with their galleries of great portraits of everyone's favorite Amazon (and her pals)!
