The Buscema brothers artwork actually improves in black and white, it's just gorgeous!

Rip OffRip Jaggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09936426877024852134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7906289048359148261.post-65407267498125269102010-12-11T09:33:06.418-08:002010-12-11T09:33:06.418-08:00Oh... and the Marvel "War of the Worlds"...Oh... and the Marvel "War of the Worlds" volume ends up being a bit confusing at times. Some are even a little better, like you say.

(So far, I've only found that only DC's "Showcase Presents Enemy Ace" and to a lesser degree "Showcase Presents The Flash" Vols. 2 and 3 have suffered, the former because Kubert did some experimentation with color techniques that are lost in the b/w reprints and so the sense of depth and speed of the planes in the sky are lost on many pages, and The Flash books because several stories actually revolve around colors.

But I LOVE these big fat books, whether they're from Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, or whomever.Steve Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11263633883997493518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7906289048359148261.post-41667844208499398972010-12-11T03:47:38.153-08:002010-12-11T03:47:38.153-08:00This series is utterly and competely "Bronze&...This series is utterly and competely "Bronze". The blend of horror and heroics is as pure as in any other that Marvel attempted. It's just plain good storytelling with a good story to tell.

I have this in the original and in the handsome black and white. I think this horror stuff actually resonates better in black and white.

Rip OffRip Jaggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09936426877024852134noreply@blogger.com
